Hector Duarte
Hector Duarte was born in 1952 in Caurio, Michoacan, Mexico. He is an artist living and working in Chicago, Illinois and his studio in Mexico.
Duarte is a painter, printmaker, and muralist building upon the Mexican muralist tradition and the community mural movement and co-founder of the Julio Ruelas Print Workshop in Zacatecas, Mexico; La Casa de la Cultura in Zamora, Mexico; and Taller Mestizarte in Chicago.

Duarte participated in a collaborative print project at Normal Editions Workshop during a short term residency at the School of Art at Illinois State University, October 2006. (pdf file of poster)
Duarte's visit was sponsored by the Office of Student Affairs, MECCPAC (Multi-Ethnic Cultural and Co-Curricular Programming Advisory Committee), the School of Art, and Normal Editions Workshop for a public lecture, class discussions, interacting with students, faculty and staff in addition to the print project.
